What should the dog do if they can’t reach the scent?
Personally, I like to start teaching them to indicate into the air if they catch the scent but can’t reach it.
We start this by keeping the scent in reach but airborne.
Then slowly increasing the height of the scent, rewarding each successful indication until the dog is stretching to reach it.
