This September dog trainer and best selling author Dominic Hodgson is heading off on his bike to complete a tour of local rescues starting in Northumberland, moving to Teesside, then the Peak District and finishing in North Wales.

The aim is to shine a light on the fantastic work done by local rescue centres, raise awareness and educate the community about rescue dogs so we can keep more dogs OUT of rescue centres and in their forever homes.

Due to our commitment to helping rescue dogs, Dominic has chosen High Peak Dogs to host the Peak District leg of the Tour on Wednesday 11th September.

The day’s adventures end in an educational evening with some of the UK’s best dog trainers – and you are all invited!

We are incredibly excited about the quality of speakers we have lined up!

> The amazing and truly wonderful Royal Veterinary Nurse, Rachel Bean who travels worldwide to help with the street dogs of Thailand and Asia. Which leads to her topic subject on Asian street dogs and rescuing from abroad.

> Michelle Walker from Michelles Canine Care in Manchester, sharing her best training advice on the first 24hours at home with your new rescue dog. And how to make these crucial hours count to make it work.

>Nicola Davies who runs Contented Canines in Glossop who we have coaxed out of her busy schedule to deliver a talk about young rescue dogs

>Your truly, that’s Claire Lawrence will be delving into the increasingly problematic topic of barking and sharing her silence strategy to alleviate the frustrations that barking dogs can bring.

The evening event will start promptly at 6:30pm at St Thomas More School, Buxton with the first speaker starting at 7pm

Finish time will be around 8.30-9ish

Ticket price for this spectacular evening will be  £35pp and all proceeds will be split between the local rescue centres. Which are as follows:

Ashbourne Animal Ark
Crow foot
Just for dogs

Dominic will be cycling the 40-mile journey between the rescue centres, yes that’s right on a bike and in lycra! Stopping at each rescue along the way to hear their stories and share them with you.

This couldn’t be for a more worthy cause, so click below, buy your tickets now and get involved to help those who really need it.

Not all dogs are as lucky as ours to be cuddled up on a sofa next to a warm fire. Let’s get these dogs out of kennels and into their forever homes.

Hope to see you there.
